Human Urogenital Myiasis Caused by Lucilia sericata (Diptera: Calliphoridae) and Wohlfahrtia magnifica (Diptera: Sarcophagidae) in Markazi Province of Iran

We report a case of human urogenital myiasis in an 86-year-old rural man with a penil ulcer and numerous alive and motile larvae from urethra and glans penis. Entomological studies on adult flies showed the larvae were Lucilia sericata and Wohlfahrtia magnifica. The clinical presentation and treatment strategies are discussed.

DENTAL CAVITY MYIASIS DUE TO WOHLFAHRTIA MAGNIFICA

A 79 year old fanner referred to a dental clinic because of toothache for one week. After extraction of a painful tooth, three larvae, 1.5 cm in length emerged from the dental cavity. Morphological study of the larvae proved them as W. magnifica. This is the first report of dental cavity myiasis from Iran.

Furuncular myiasis in a child caused by Wohlfahrtia magnifica (Diptera: Sarcophagidae) associated with eosinophilia.

We report the case of an eight-year-old boy with hypereosinophilia who presented with a swelling under his right armpit that had persisted for more than four weeks.
